Verification challenges in the Power Management fabric of Integrated Circuits
by Pallab Dasgupta from IIT Kharagpur
invited by Goran FREHSE

Abstract: Power is one of the primary criteria for design optimization. Modern SOCs have extremely complex power management fabric which is responsible for orchestrating the delivery of power to various power domains inside the integrated circuit. Messing up the power management is not uncommon, and often the errors are manifested through corruption in the parts of the circuit which are not functionally dependent on the power management logic. This talk will outline the verification challenges emanating from power management of integrated circuits, and the groups research on using a milieu of technologies for solving these challenges, including new technologies such as AMS assertions.

Pallab Dasgupta is a Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, which gives him the license to teach some of the great young minds of India, collaborate with many companies who come to him with very tough problems, and provide research guidance to some students who are reasonably determined to get their PhD degrees. As the current Dean of Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy of the largest IIT, he tries to comprehend the delightfully diverse areas of competence of his colleagues and facilitate their connections with various R&D opportunities. As a personal level, he plays, though not very well, an Indian instrument called sitar. Other not so relevant information about him can be found in his website:
